James has successfully delivered many projects in this way at SCP across multiple sectors including Aged Care, Sport and Recreation and Education.
He has a passion for sustainability and the environment and how this can be applied to civil and infrastructure services on all projects. What are you most passionate about in your role(what drives you)?
Sustainability and the environment. Water management is becoming increasingly important with the impacts of climate change on the weather resulting in more intense rainfall, rising sea levels, polluted waterways, etc. Being able to provide engineering solutions to contribute to the bigger picture is what drives me to be better in my role everyday.
In your opinion, what makes SCP special?
SCP makes you feel like a person, not a number or a resource. This is embodied by the management team who work alongside the junior members of their team to deliver our amazing projects. Everyone is approachable and friendly and happy to answer questions resulting in a truly collaborative environment.
What are the top 3 projects of your career so far and why?
Mac Uni Central Courtyard Rehabilitation of Mars Creek and the impact that this has had on the feel of the University was very special. We were also able to remove significant Authority approvals from the project through creative flood management solutions.
BaptistCare SAHF Delivering 500 beds across 8 sites to contribute to the social housing shortage across NSW on behalf of BaptistCare was the making of me as an engineer. I managed the civil and hydraulic services across all 8 sites simultaneously. The project commenced in 2016 and one site is left to develop.
Kensington Track upgrade The first project I worked on at SCP and got introduced to a client – it also just happened to be a horse racing track upgrade at Randwick Racecourse. Livio came up with a very creative concept and I was able to deliver the engineering calculations to prove that it would work. 4 years down the track I’m still involved in ongoing inspections to make sure the system is operating as intended. A really cool project in a really cool location.
